Zoo 2 Zoo
Welcome
published 25 January 2014

The Zoo2Zoo Committee have been busy over Summer –  Andrew M surviving the Sydney - Hobart yacht race and planning arrival Sydney –  Hobart bike ride to race the yachts there next year; Andrew B trying to find the  correct balance in planning for his wedding and planning the build for his new bike; Clem demolishing his front yard and gas line; Mark continuing his trend as  a long haired hippy retiree; and me trying to separate myself from my mountain  bike to reacquaint myself with road riding.

However, we are now re-energised and, seven weeks out from the first Zoo2Zoo event of the year, focused on  delivering a great ride.

Below is an update on developments and things you need  to know. You will receive more frequent emails in the lead up to the event with further information.  As always, any questions don’t hesitate to contact us via  this email, on the blog on the website or if you feel like a chat, my  mobile.

Canberra Ride Full
We have been overwhelmed with interest this year far beyond our  expectations. With 40 registrations, we have reached capacity of our accommodation options in Molong (second night stopover) and have now closed registrations.  We have started a wait list, so if you are no longer available  for the event, please let us know and so we can invite one of those waiting.

Payment details
Payment can be made by clicking HERE

As we have  received the necessary personnel details from you in the original registration, minimal additional information is required. When prompted
for a “Promotional  Code” enter your first and last name (as recoded in your initial registration)  as one word i.e. my promotional code would be “jameso’reilly”.  This will  correct the entry fee to $500 (excluding credit card processing fee).

Payments are due by 14 February 2014. Any  problems, please contact me.

Fundraising
The  Zoo2Zoo is proud to continue its support of the  Black Dog Institute in 2014. The Black Dog Institute is a not for profit organisation dedicated to
improving the lives of people affected by mood disorders through their high quality research, clinical expertise and education programs.

Last year, Zoo2Zoo participants raised over $200,000 for the Black Dog Institute. Just as importantly, we had over 200 people proudly raising the profile of the  Black Dog Institute and making a statement about mental health  issues.

There is no minimum fundraising requirement to participate on this ride, but it is expected that each participant will create a Zoo2Zoo Everyday Hero
fundraising page.  Details on how to do this will follow shortly.

Transport
For the Dubbo riders, there will be a mini bus driving to Canberra on the Thursday afternoon/evening the day before the ride.  Likewise, Canberra riders,
there  will be a min bus returning to Canberra on the Monday morning (remember it is an  ACT public holiday).  A custom bicycle trailer will carry bike both ways.  If  you would like to use these services, for a small additional fee, please contact  me to confirm your spot.

Unfortunately, there has not been enough  interest from Sydney to organise a dedicated service.  However, we can recommend Murrays coaches as an economical option to Canberra with services leaving hourly  and the train service returning to Sydney from Dubbo.  Of course, Canberra and  Dubbo are also well serviced by domestic airlines.

Accommodation
For those travelling to Canberra in need of a place to stay the night before the event, we will be  making a group booking at a local central motel.  If you
are interested, please  let us know and we will pass on further details.

Those that are  interested in staying in Dubbo at the conclusion of the event, we can recommend  the Cattleman’s Country Motor Inn and Services
Apartments (bookings individuals’ responsibility).

Further info
The Zoo2Zoo website  is the best place for further info on this ride, Zoo2Zoo’s other rides, photos  from past events and much, much more.

I would especially like to give a  big plug to the Zoo2Zoo Blog Zone HERE.

This is a  place to connect directly with other riders to ask questions, seek advice or  just talk yourself up ahead of the ride.  A page has been created for
the  Canberra – Dubbo ride with a request already posted from Simon Twigg, registered  rider for the Canberra – Dubbo event and Illawarra resident, seeking
a lift from  Sutton Forest before the ride.  If you think you can help Simon out, post a response!

Thanks for your support in 2014.
We will be in touch.
